Understanding Violets
While the ecologist or environmental worker will need to learn to identify plants by all their various parts, most people begin to identify plants by their flowers so, as an obvious first step, this section divides flowering plants into groups by flower colour. Some species may have flowers that can vary in colour, flowers that contain more than one colour, or flowers that are borderline between two colour categories (pinkish-white or greenish-yellow for example). To accommodate how different people might search for such species, these will be found in more than one section.
Clicking on the Woody Trees, Shrubs & Climbers section from the home page allows identification of plants mostly by their twigs/branches, leaves and fruits. However, woody plants with noticeable or showy flowers may also be identified by using this colour section.
